Being a tropical region, Indonesia is host to some admittedly interesting looking fruits, among them is the notorious durian. While the flesh of the fruit is soft and sweet, the fruit gives off an odor I can only describe as funky. British naturalist Alfred Wallace meanwhile describes the odor as “disagreeable,” but only because funky doesn't sound British enough. It is a fact, though, that eating the fruit is forbidden from some public places in Singapore, because the breath of the eater might claim innocent lives.
